Homexam's® Audiobook

An MP3 version of Homexam's The User-Friendly Home. An excellent way to learn technical information about houses with your eyes closed at the end of a weary day. When you hear the quality of the reading, you'll notice that it is read by a machine, not a real human. But we've spent a lot of time evaluating various text-to-speech software packages, and tweaking the parameters on the four that we chose (two voice packages, and two text-to-speech packages). If you'd like to hear a sample of the result, listen to Crystal and Mike.We have put almost the entire book (more than 60 hours) on CDs in two formats: 1. For this CD, the articles have been chopped into sections, like those in the samples heard above, with alternating Crystal and Mike voices. This procedure results in almost 500 files - a bit of a nuisance when you want to listen to the entire book on a computer, but easier to remember where you left off when using most portable music players. $25 + $5 shipping and handling. Note: These are MP3 files, so they must be played on a computer or on an MP3 player. 2. Entire articles also have been recorded to CD using Crystal's voice. The articles are rather long (up to almost 6 hours, in some cases), but they may be easier to deal with on a PC than the split files. $25 + $5 shipping and handling. Please remember, these are MP3 files and must be played on a computer or on an MP3 player.
